Grading System
In order to assist you in buying our discs, we have graded our Records and CD?s with the help of Record Collector Magazine Grading System which has originated a set of standards for the condition of new and second-hand Records and CD?s.
The condition categories, and a description of what each one means, are listed below:
Brand new and un-played in factory sealed cellophane. | (BNS) BRAND NEW & SEALED | Brand new and un-played in factory sealed cellophane. |
Brand new and un-played. | (BN) BRAND NEW | Brand new and un-played. |
The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. | (M) MINT | The CD shows slight signs of having been played, but the sound quality is perfect. The case/wallet might have slight scratches/creasing. Any extra items such as the insert, lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. |
The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing. | (EX)
| The CD has obviously been played many times, but the sound quality is perfect, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the case/wallet or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable. |
The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable. | (VG) VERY GOOD | CDs are difficult to grade visually: they can look perfect but actually be faulty, while in other cases they may appear damaged but still play perfectly. Therefore, we test all used CD?s prior to grading. We never sell any CD?s in less than excellent condition unless stated in the decsription. |
| The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents may suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc. We never sell any records in less than good condition. | (G) GOOD | Not Applicable. |
